Poem

I am truly me.
I am ethereal.
You can’t see or touch me,
but you always know I’m there.
Where I am from is luminous,
and I am filled with glowing, beautiful colors.
I carry a kaleidoscope in my spirit.
swirls of gold, deep browns, reds, and greens
all from Mother Africa
I am a seed that was planted.
I grew.
I thrived.
I blossomed into a powerful Black girl.
Sometimes people tell me I don’t fit in.
But I don’t compete for my spot.
I know my worth.
I know my beauty.
When life gets challenging, I keep pushing through.
When I get knocked down, I rise right back up.
My journey is ongoing,
and I belong anywhere I want to be,
not just where you say I belong.
I’m celebrating my inner peace,
walking in my own royalty,
and the world will just have to make room for ME!
