I was born in a place where... 

life feels like a fantasy. 

Wishes come true if you dream hard enough, 

turning imagination into reality.

I am growing up wrapped in a place where…

I am loved and accepted, 

and a home where I am proud of who I am. 

Where my brothers roar during sporting games, 

and Mom yells if they don't clean up their mess. 

Where dogs are always barking, 

and we visit neighbors just to talk and eat.

My roots run deep in Black History…

a history that can never be erased,

echoing with stories of those who fought and died for our rights.

I am a proud Black scholar. 

My hair is kinky, natural, and dark brown. 

I am not afraid of my shape; 

I refuse to be body shamed.

Step into my own quiet world where... 

mystery books wait to be read, 

and my pencils sketch flowers, cats, and wild animals. 

I write about everything that catches my eye,

and laugh at funny characters in silly cartoons.

My heart beats with joy and love,

to the sounds of music running through my veins….

Reggae, Gospel, R&B, and Country. 

Mac and Cheese, Fufu, and Stuffed Shells fill the air with rich smells. 

God is my anchor, and I am a proud Christian.

Looking ahead, I know that one day, I will… 

protect as a police officer and save lives.
