Poem

2026

A butterfly comes out of its cocoon

the place it once called home

struggling until free

spreading its wings and flying away

finally at peace

traveling to the place it will finally belong

in my cocoon, it was dark, and life was not good

struggling in school

not knowing how to control my emotions

lying and blaming other people

my anger boiled inside of me like a hot volcano

growing larger and bubbling over

I did not know where I really belonged……

Then, things changed!

I emerged from my dark cocoon.

learning about integrity

being responsible for my actions

knowing that I’m somebody with people to impress and places to go

taking deep breaths and calming myself down so I don't react out of anger

smiling and realizing that I have great things to share with this world

making better choices

helping my peers to be leaders and not followers

The old me disappeared so that I can be stronger and better.

Now, I am soaring high.

at true peace with myself

sharing what I learned with others

finally finding the place where I truly belong
