Wings

Sometimes I feel like

A button in the ocean

Quiet storm Folding in and out

Chasing the puddles of moonlight

Under the warm glow of the stars

Red koi flicker past

Weaving in spirals

Like the slender arc of a dragon’s tail

In a purple sky Tangling together

Their sun-splashed skin

Eclipses the darkness

Soft I slip

Curl

Unfurl

Dipping my nose towards the water

That looks like rising fire

In my cupped hands

I hold the moon

And ghost rings light on my fingers

Midnight lingers

And I sit cross-legged

In the silence

When morning comes Pouring gold on the hills

Twirling shy wildflowers into sun

They lift like feathers

And I gather them

In my arms Weave them in my hair

Fold them against my heart

The wind stirs

Crimson brushing the horizon

When I dive

Spilling into the whispery June air

And swooping skyward

Silently stretching towards forever.
