Threads of Reminiscence
White was simplicity that wrapped my innocence,
Learning to walk,
turning babbles into stuttering words,
crawling to stumbling steps
White was good, simple, easy.
Purple was discovery,
Running, chasing, laughter of kids,
Finding new games to enjoy each passing day,
jumping off the swings just to be met by bruised knees,
purple was youth, short but kind
Red was rage
nights spent awake with tainted thoughts of crushed dreams,
rebellious habits formed,
words turned to weapons,
hands turned to fists,
red was unloved
After a storm there's rain,
my dear navy was my rain
oh how gentle I wished you were,
Sorrow followed me, cradling me,
making every passing winter feel lament
I mourned death which was never around,
a revenant soul
Navy was melancholy
In fern I found solace
Each deep breath taken brought me back to my youth
I no longer feel as sullen,
I’ll never quite recover
I can cradle my sorrow with love despite the pain it caused me,
my yells turned to mumbles with careful consideration
fists now mold to soft touch
Fern is my embrace
Violet is my haven
hand in hand no longer lone
the tender sentiment of vulnerability reveals with her soft words,
guarding my heart no longer feels heavy as she carries it with ease in her gentle hands,
Threads of violet interwoven through our souls,
I’m not ashamed of us
Violet is my love
Summer is amber
The warm rays of sunshine taunt me,
I search for shade through the trees,
the smell of a warm breeze connects to my heart as I look into what's to come,
summer comes during times of thinking,
it brings wonders to me, questions, thoughts,
What will this year bring me? Will I meet new people?
Summer is my curiosity
Every hue has been my muse
they set my future blissful
unattainable is the past,
the future yet not decided
for if discovered early,
It is no longer a tint,
but now a tone set for my destiny.
