“I am everything you see!”

Colors are my identity.

I am that beautiful green tree

whose roots are my spirit.

Reddish brown is the African soil in which I am planted,

with my ancestors watching over me.

I am the most beautiful colors.

Black

Brown

My skin, my hair, all make me proud

listen to me say this out loud….

“I’ve got magic in me!”

Purple is the color of royalty

and it’s the color I wear when people tell me…

“Get up and wear your crown!”

Colors also make me happy.

Blue reminds me of the sky

and the white fluffy clouds that are there so high.

Yellow is the color of sweet and cold lemonade.

It sounds like me playing with my friends on a Summer day.

Orange is the color that flashes past my face

as I dribble that basketball and play.

Colors can also make me sad.

They remind me of my people.

Ocean blue is for my ancestors

who jumped from boats during the middle passage.

Crimson is their blood that was shed

and runs through my veins.

Red, black, and green represents everyone who fought for justice

and never gave up.

White and blue send a powerful message to us all

to work together and make a better world.

All of my colors speak to me.

They tell me to rise when I fall down.

They help me to push through.

They are my colors

which are my spirit

and will always set me free!
