Poem

2025

I paint my life with infinite hues.

Their beauty represents the colors which I choose!

There are colors which paint a very painful story.

These colors are my history.

Wood brown reminds me of my ancestors’ Middle Passage.

Deep red reminds me of the blood that they bled.

Black, red, and green

are for their struggle to be seen.

Cyan and deep pink remind me of my favorite memories.

My friendships remind me of the colors

Amber, Apricot, and Aqua Blue.

I love all these colors,

how about you?

People have different shades and colors of personalities,

but none match mine.

I may go from Black and feeling depressed,

all the way to Orange when I destress.

I am French Sky Blue when I think of living my dreams.

French Violet is when I am empathetic and care for others.

Canary Yellow is the color of the warm memories that make me smile

and Electric Lime fills me with energy

and I can run a mile!

My future is shiny and white,

because people tell me that my future is going to be bright!

There are many colors in my life.

From the entire rainbow,

all the way down to the hidden colors that some people don't know.

I paint my life every day.

My brushes are filled with colors which cannot be erased.

My life is a canvas and I will paint it with a mix of beautiful colors.

They are the colors of who I am

and who I am yet to be.

I am the artist creating a masterpiece

waiting for everyone to see!
