History of the Amnesiacs

By Hannah Jeoung

blew our candle out

but now we have forgotten

to dream of a wish

torn petals and limbs

cherry blossoms stain the snow

impaled by its thorns

stormy weathered tears

eyes laden with dew like drops

weeps mother nature

where when who how what

etched on history’s pages

they echo back “why?”

empty sockets stare

from shallow graves do spring bone

chillingly at us

Screaming silently

Shackled by a gravity

So old and so new

it feels like a dance;

jumping in

between

these walls

hoping to be seen

in the Lost and Found

people cast aside their crowns

iron-chainmail-ed hearts

signs on the street say:

today is collection day

we cash in our pain.
